A lot of railroads built in the 19th and 20th centuries were built on land given to them by the U.S. government. The facts ma'am just the facts. In spite of the nonsense that Mitch Daniels and those like him believe, no Ayn Rand super hero stepped forward in the 1800s and singlehandedly built The Transcontinental Railroad. It was a team effort.
